Updates on The Boat.

The Boat is now a darling Nissan Cube.

Some of you will say "well that's not darling."
But to me and my SC Grand kids
anything is better than the
embarrassing Boat!!!!

It has been so long since I posted and
I'm ashamed!!
This week has been sooooo sad with the
shootings in Connecticut.
Bless there hearts and bless everyone's
broken hearts.
I know because my heart sure did break.

Gun laws? We must be free to carry!
But we must be responsible and use gun safes.
We need to keep or loved one's safe one way or the other.

Well that's my two cents, take it or leave it.

A Successful Woman

 I saw this on FaceBook
and the only way I could put it on my Pinterest
was to blog it. :)

So I did.

Two Horses

Two Horses
Author Unknown

Just up the road from my home is a field,

with two horses in it.

From a distance, each horse looks like any
other horse.

But if you stop your car, or are walking by,

you will notice something quite amazing...

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that

he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him
put down, but has made a good home for him.
This alone is amazing. If you stand nearby and
listen, you will hear the sound of a bell.

Looking around for the source of the sound,
you will see that it comes from the smaller
horse in the field.

Attached to the horse's halter is a small bell.
It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is,
so he can follow.
As you stand and watch these two friends,

you'll see that the horse with the bell is always
checking on the blind horse, and that the blind horse
will listen for the bell and then slowly walk to
where the other horse is, trusting that he
will not be led astray.

When the horse with the bell returns to the shelter of the
barn each evening, it stops occasionally and looks back,
Making sure that the blind friend isn't too far behind
to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw
us away just because we are not perfect or because we
have problems or challenges.

He watches over us and even brings others into our lives
To help us when we are in need..

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by

the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives.

Other times we are the guide horse, helping others to

find their way....

Good friends are like that... You may not always
see them, but you know they are always there..
Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours,
and remember..

Be kinder than necessary-
Everyone you meet is fighting
Some kind of battle.

Live simply, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly..

FOR WE WALK BY FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT

The Letter

Baila and Cait on their special day.
The Letter

Ruth went to her mail box and there was only one letter. She picked it up and looked at it before opening, but then she looked at the envelope again. There was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and address.

She read the letter:

Dear Ruth:
I’m going to be in your neighborhood Saturday afternoon and I would like to visit.
Love Always, Jesus

Her hands were shaking as she placed the letter on the table. “Why would the Lord want to visit me? I’m nobody special. I don’t have anything to offer.”
With that thought, Ruth remembered her empty kitchen cabinets. “Oh my goodness, I really don’t have anything to offer. I’ll have to run down to the store and buy something for dinner.” She reached for her purse and counted out it’s contents. Five dollars and forty cents. “Well, I can get some bread and cold cuts, at least.” She threw on her coat and hurried out the door.
A loaf of French bread, a half-pound of sliced turkey, and a carton of milk…leaving Ruth with a grand total of twelve cents to last her until Monday. Nonetheless, she felt good as she headed home, her meager offerings tucked under her arm.

“Hey lady, can you help us, lady?” Ruth had been so absorbed in her dinner plans, she hadn’t even noticed two figures huddled in the byway a man and a woman, both of them dressed in little more than rags. “Look lady, I ain't got a job, ya know, and my wife and I have been living out here on the street, and, well, now it’s getting cold and we’re getting kinda hungry and, well, if you could help us, lady, we’d really appreciate it.”

Ruth looked at them both. They were dirty, they smelled bad and frankly, she was certain that they could get some kind of work if they really wanted to. “Sir, I’d like to help you, but I’m a poor woman myself. All I have is a few cold cuts and some bread, and I’m having an important guest for dinner tonight and I was planning on serving that to “Him.”

“Yeah, well, okay lady, I understand. Thanks anyway. “The man put his arm around the woman’s shoulders, turned and he headed back into the alley. As she watched them leave, Ruth felt a familiar twinge in her heart. “Sir, wait!” The couple stopped and turned as she ran down the alley after them. “Look, why don’t you take this food. I’ll figure out something else to serve my guest.” She handed the man her grocery bag.

“Thank you lady. Thank you very much!” “Yes, thank you!” It was the man’s wife, and Ruth could see now that she was shivering. “You know, I’ve got another coat at home. Here, why don’t you take this one.” Ruth unbuttoned her jacket and slipped it over the woman’s shoulders. Then smiling, she turned and walked back…..without her coat and with nothing to serve her guest.
“Thank you lady! Thank you very much!”

Ruth was chilled by the time she reached her front door, and worried too. The Lord was coming to visit and she didn't have anything to offer Him. She fumbled through her purse for the door key. But as she did, she noticed another envelope in her mailbox. “That’s odd. The mailman doesn’t usually come twice in one day.” She took the envelope out of the box and opened it.

Dear Ruth:
It was so good to see you again.
Thank you for the lovely meal.
And thank you, too, for the beautiful coat.

Love Always, Jesus

The air was still cold, but even without her coat,
Ruth no longer noticed.

Handmade Lotions with Essential Oils and Bach Flowers

Home Made Creams and Recipes

I learned how to make all natural lotions from my sweet
neighbors Julie and Francine.

I have made:
  • Queens Cream (a cleanser)
  • Day Dreamer (a moisturizer)
  • Diva Dreams (a moisturizer for day and night)
  • Night Watch ( fabulous night moisturizer and repair for night time)
  • Desert Diva (An Aloe based gel moisturizer for those "too much sun times".)
  • Sulky Sultan (A Bach flower and essential oil Rescue cream) for anxiety and stress.

Pretty new quilt

When I was in beauty college
one of the horrors that was brought
to our attention
was lice,
yukky lice.

I'd never thought much about lice at all really.
Well one day they shut our school down early because one of the girls had
found lice crawling around in the shampoo bowl.
EWWE!

It makes me itch to tell you about it.
Our instructors all bleached their hair that night to kill any unseen threat.

About two weeks later I was shampooing a clients hair and I noticed
tiny little flying insects and of course you know what I thought they were.
I excused myself carefully and got one of the now very blonde instructors.

She assured me that they were only fruit flies coming from the
Thanksgiving decorations near the
shampoo bowl.

Whew!!

That was such a relief.
Such a relief.

Sunshine Chicken Barley Soup

Sunshine Chicken Barley Soup

I made a chicken soup the other day that I tweaked just a bit. Instead of making my usual Chicken and dumpling soup I used pearl barley and some dill butter carrots that I had made the night before. Well guess what, it was so delicious that I have been asked or I should say begged for the recipe, so here it is.

In a large soup pot put:

5-6 Chicken Thighs (Boneless and skinless, I use frozen)
1-2 large onions, chopped
4 cloves of garlic (halved)
4 cups frozen Sunshine Carrots (they are yellow and orange)
2-3 cups Chopped Celery with stalks (dark leaves and all)
2/3 cup pearl barley
3 tablespoons butter
3 Tbls. dried dill
2 Tbls. lemon juice
1/4 cup dried parsley
1 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1/2 cup dried Chicken Bouillon

Fill the pot with water to a little above the ingredients.
Bring to a boil and simmer for 2-3 hours, adjust seasonings to taste,
Shut off and let cool a bit and then serve.

It thickens by itself and is very yummy.
It serves a lot so I take it to sick friends and also it freezes well and I save it for me when I am sick or don't feel like cooking.

I am going to leave you with an Irish Friendship Blessing today:

May there always be work for your hands to do.

it is so fun.

I will post Sissy's and Becky's as soon as I take a picture of them.

Updates on The Broken Window and The Boat.

Remember this window and the story about the BB gun?
If not go to this blog to find out what happened.

This is the Update on that story.

We have really big winds here and if you
live near a canyon there are really, really
BIG winds.
Yep, you guessed it the wind blew so hard that it
knocked the broken glass out of the window
in the middle of the night and
scared everyone to pieces!

I'm so glad that no one was hurt and that I wan't there.

And remember the boat it has hatched into a
1996 Cadillac DeVille
like this one
because of very kind people
with big hearts.
And it runs.

Love,
Grammy T.
