I Love Fancy Guppies

Did you know that I love Guppies? Well I do. They are gorgeous.

When I was little I lived on Argo Way in Sacramento, California.
It was a little house that sometimes had a silver side when the rest was
painted pink and I could tell people to look for the silver house when they
were hunting for me.

Any who... the neighbors had guppies. Not a big tank just a big bowl and those guppies had guppies and then those guppies had guppies.

Whew it was so fun to see the explosion of little pretty fish and I got
some guppies too.

Much better than the poly wogs that I caught every spring at St. Mary's Cemetery, the place I was forbidden to ever, ever go.

"Where did you get those poly wogs?"  Mom would ask and of course being the angelic child that I was I answered "In the gutter by Jiggy's house."
Of course she really believed that.

Back to my guppies...So when I couldn't do a lot with my hands and because some of my Granddaughters came to help me clean my house so that one of them could raise $7.00 for a frog house and we had to go hunting for all of the important things that go with little critters. I wound up at the pet stores
and couldn't resist the beautiful guppies that they have now.

Guppies have really changed since I was little. They are gorgeousThere are red, blue, green, purple and much more.

There is a blue and a leopard mama in my tank. And I had a leopard daddy that Christi bought me for my birthday. He died but I am going to get another one because he was so, so beautiful.

One of the funny things that happened is that about 30 little baby guppies
that were six weeks old had babies! I had to put on my reading glasses to see them.

I keep my tank at about 80 - 82 degrees and I guess that is what happens when they are kept nice warm.

So now I have many, many Fancy Guppies.

We Don't Bow to Things

The Christus on Temple Square in SLC
A great man in our church once said:
"We teach our people correct principles
and then let
them judge themselves."

I love this saying and I love
"The Gospel of Jesus Christ."

Two summers ago, after our family reunion,
we took some of our family to Temple Square in SLC
and of course we went to the Visitors Center
where the Christus
is displayed.

While we were looking at the Christus
a little boy of middle Eastern decent
walked up to the Christus and stood
in awe of the beautiful representation
of Christ. And then bowed to Him.
It was very touching.

That is something we don't see in our church but my little granddaughter

thought it was a nice thing to do so she followed
him in his praise of Christ.
Very Sweet!!

Precious Little One's

Our Savior Jesus Christ also has a body

Because we, the members of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,
don't believe in the Nicene Creed we are deemed
by some folks as not being Christian.

In other words we believe that
God is our Heavenly Father,
He has a body and we are made in his image.

and is one with the Father in purpose,

not in body.

The Holy Ghost is also a separate being.

Having been raised in one of the "other" Christian Churches,
that believe in the Nicene Creed,
I asked my Momma
what God looked like.

She said that I should think of Him as a big head floating
and listening to my prayers and that
He could be everywhere.

As a little tiny girl my teachings of
Jesus Christ was much easier to understand.

Jesus came to the earth and was born of Virgin Mary
and He loved me and He walked the earth
just like me and he was good and kind
and He truly loved little children.

He said we would go to Heaven if we were good like He was
and if "we were as a little child".

I loved Him so much and many times
I felt Him with me.

The Holy Ghost scared me at first because ghosts were
scary to little girls.

In fact my little friend Sally Jo was saying her prayers one night
at my Nana Pills' house and she ended her prayer...

"In the name of the Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost".

Well that did it for those two little one's
and my Nana had to sleep with us to get us to calm down.

Children are so Dear you know.

I Will Not Complain

Tate is getting so big.
He is such a cute little guy.

Hi all, this is my first time back to my Blog in a very long time.

I broke my wrist when I fell in the shower the middle of July
and to mend I needed an operation of a metal plate
and seven screws.

I am just now back to typing with two hands.

With physical therapy I am hoping to be able to use it better through the
next few months.

I just watched Nie-Nie and I don't dare complain.

Here is her blog:
 http://nieniedialogues.blogspot.com/

And here is a video about her:

So you see why I will not complain.

Successful Marriages Require A High Degree of Mutual Toleration,

My Grandfather George William Pillsbury with his siblings
Leonard and Adeline Jane.

"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal
is going to waste a lot of time running around
shouting that he has been robbed.

The fact is that most putts don’t drop,
most beef is tough,

most children grow up to be just like people,
most successful marriages require a
high degree of mutual toleration,
and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise.

Life is just like an old time rail journey ...
delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts,
interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed.

The trick is to thank the Lord for letting
you have the ride."

How to get back to Classic Yahoo Mail

So I know I'm a slouch.
I haven't written forever.

But, I have had issues.

One of the issues is in the
picture above.

But the good news is that I just figured out how to get my Classic Yahoo Mail back.

Go to your Control Panel in your Windows 7. Change the resolution to make your screen 800x600 resolutions.

Go back into your Yahoo Mail and it will give you the option to change your email back to classic mail.

Now change it back.

Now go back into your control panel and change the resolution to the one you want and save it.

And that is all there is to it :)

Remember That Time When We Used to Make Homemade Root Beer?

Homemade Root Beer

When my husband was going to school

at BYU in the late 60's
a young man named Finlinson
from Delta, Utah
taught me to make
homemade
 root beer.

He brought me his families bottle capper and away
we went having the best time making
it and then putting it in
the dark basement
until
it was fizzy.

It was so fun and very yummy.

This morning I happened upon this recipe for
homemade root beer and wanted
to share it.

Ingredients:

Serves:

Serving Size: 1 cup

I Love My Buddy Burners

Frying EggsWhen I was a Girl Scout my leader,
Mrs. Thorpe, taught us how to
make buddy Burners.

They were so much fun and I used mine

all summer long to cook
my breakfast.

Frying Hash-browns
Well a few month ago I saved some large tin cans from my food storage, the one's you get at the Bishops Storehouse or Cannery, and I washed and saved some tuna cans.
Frying toast
Then This morning Sarah, Matilda and I made up the burners.

It was so much fun to cook our breakfast outside and
it was the best breakfast they had ever had,
for sure! :)

Sweet Memories for Sure

When I was little we lived on Argo Way in Sacramento,
my mom would get Canned Boston Beans and
Canned Boston Brown Bread.

The bread was sweet and we ate it toasted
with lots of butter.

The beans were very sweet too so it all made for
sweet memories for sure.

I found a recipe for the Canned Brown Bread.

I thought it would be very fun for
us all to try to make our own.

But if you are too busy and want to buy them
here is what they look like
in the can.

B & M Brown Bread Original (Plain) 16 oz.

The Crash on Friday the 13th

Our Chevette was a cute silver.

On Mothers Day the older girl's and I were talking about
"The Crash" we had in our brand new
1977 Chevette Hatchback.

It was so cute and it got such good gas mileage,
29 mpg in the city and 39 mpg
on the highway.

We left early in the morning on Friday the 13th of February,
the day after Becky's birthday.

I obviously fell asleep
because when I opened my eyes
I saw a road marker in front of me.

I over-corrected and by doing that
the car flipped
end over end,
over end.

After the car rolled and was flying through the air
with myself and all six of my children in it,
I prayed to Heavenly Father
and asked Him to help me because
there was absolutely
nothing I could do by
myself.

A voice answered and said
"You all have your missions yet to fulfill".

When we landed in a ditch across the road,
it was so peaceful and I heard
the birds singing.

Timmy had flown out of the broken and
smashed window and
had slid down hi-way 80
on his back and arm.

A car stopped to help us and I told them to go away
that we didn't need their help.

Obviously I was in shock.

I then told Timmy to,
"get back in the car because
we were going to go
to Grandma's".

 He said,
"Mom we don't have any wheels and all of the
windows are smashed out".

I finally realized the situation we were in.

An ambulance stopped on it's way to
the hospital in Elko and we got a
ride into town with it.

They said that a trucker had radioed that there was a
fatal accident up ahead.

We were that accident but we were all alive
and had very minor injuries.

That is physically.

Emotionally I was a mess and
I kept having flashbacks of the wreck
over and over and over for a
very long time.

There is so much more to this story but it is
all very sad so I think that I will just say
that I am so thankful for the angels
that were there to help us that
morning on the I-80 between
Wells and Elko, Nevada.

I really don't know how we all would have survived
without divine intervention.

And as my family grew and got older and we had
TEENAGERS
it was very comforting to remember those words;

"You all have your missions yet to fulfill."

Love, Grammy T.

Happy "It Didn't Happen Day" Everyone

It's going to give me time to clean my laundry room before the big one.
Of course who cares because it would be such a mess anyway.

Speaking of big messes, the poor South really took a beating a few days ago.
Wow, 342 tornado's in just a small amount of time.
397 or more people died and over
300 of those people lived
in Alabama.
So sad.

And it is still flooding,
shoot!!

Let's remember them in our prayers

Two posts disappeared, really!!

It's Friday the 13th and two of my blog posts
have disappeared.

Really!!!

Wow!!

Where did they go??

You saw them right?
The one with a box of chocolates and the other
 with the strip quilts.

In fact they are still on my Profile page on Facebook.

So who took them??

They came back all on their own.

Our garden and our bunnies..OOPS.

A Raised Garden Bed
I got an email from Jessie a few days ago that said "Let's build raised vegetable garden beds."

Wow, that's a great idea I thought and didn't answer the email.

But Jessie found some used ones right here in our little neck of the woods
so we got them and painted them a cheery Forest Green today.

I planted seeds in a little Jiffy Starter thingy last night and the plants should be ready when the weather decides to behave itself.

Hopefully I'll be able to put up some pretty picture in a few months.

Oh, one little tiny problem, we have little rabbits running around the back yard that are cute as heck but that will love our garden.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Love,
Grammy T.
